Questions & Answers
Everything people ask us about lessons, rental, the resort and group trips, in one place. Can't find yours? Message us on WhatsApp or Telegram and we reply in minutes.
Booking & General
How do I book a lesson?
Choose the lesson, the date, the start time and who is riding, and send the request. A seat in a public class is held as soon as you send it. A private lesson is a request: we choose an instructor who is free and confirm on WhatsApp or by email.
How quickly do you confirm?
Often within minutes. If you write at night, by the morning.
Do I pay when I book?
No. Nothing is paid when you send a request. Once we confirm your booking, we tell you how to pay.
How far ahead should I book?
For a private lesson, as early as you can over New Year, the first half of January and February weekends, when instructors are fully booked. On other days a few days ahead is usually enough. Online booking closes 60 minutes before a lesson starts; for anything later, message us.
What languages do you teach in?
English, Georgian and Russian. Some of our instructors also teach in Chinese, German or Spanish. Choose the language when you book and we send an instructor who speaks it.
Is it cheaper to book several days?
Yes. Book 3 days or more of the same lesson and every day costs less. The days do not need to be in a row.
Is the lift pass included?
No. Buy your own lift pass from the resort before the lesson starts. School and company trips are the exception: there the lift pass can be part of the package.
What if the weather is bad or the lifts stop?
If the lifts run, the lesson runs — flat light and wind are part of the mountain, and learning in them is worth something. If they do not, you choose another date or your money back.
Can I change or cancel my booking?
We move you to another day or time wherever there is room. We do not refund a booking, except when the lifts are not running.
Do I need insurance?
We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers skiing or snowboarding, emergency medical treatment and evacuation. We don't sell insurance.
When is the season?
From 10 December to 30 April. The exact first and last days depend on the snow and on the resort.
Where do we meet?
At one of our meeting points: The Shop, Gudauri Lodge, New Gudauri, the top of the Pirveli lift, or the Snow Park for private lessons. You choose one when you book, and the confirmation tells you exactly where to stand.
Can you arrange transport to Gudauri?
Yes, for packages and for bookings that combine several services — lessons, rental and a hotel over several days, for example. Send us your arrival details and we include the transfer from Tbilisi or the airport.
How do I contact you?
WhatsApp, Telegram or phone on +995 500 50 44 66, or email [email protected].
Private Lessons
Can we be at different levels in one private?
Yes, up to 4 of you. The instructor splits their attention and picks terrain the least confident of you is happy on, so each of you moves on a little less than you would alone. If the gap is big — a first-timer and someone who rides reds — two short privates usually teach both of you more than one long one.
Skiing or snowboarding?
Both. Say which when you book and we send an instructor who teaches it. If your party mixes skis and boards, tell us when you book so we can plan for it.
Is 90 minutes enough for a first-timer?
Enough to stand, glide and stop on purpose, and often to make a first turn. Not enough to ski the mountain. Most people need about three lessons before a blue run feels like theirs.
Should I book 90 minutes or 3 hours?
For a first day, 90 minutes is plenty for most adults: the legs give out before the learning does. Three hours suits you if you are fit, already ride, or only have one day. Three lessons of 90 minutes on three days teach more than one lesson of three hours.
Is this a guided tour of the resort?
No. A private is a lesson: it is about how you ski, not where. If you already ride and want to learn your way around Gudauri, take the Slope Tour.
Can I have the same instructor on several days?
Book the days together and we keep the same instructor wherever we can. They start each day where the last one ended instead of starting again.
Can my child join our private?
Children learn differently and at a different pace, so a child usually does better in a kids' private of their own. Ask us about your family and we will tell you straight.
What if I arrive late?
The lesson ends at its booked time, because the instructor has another after it. Arriving late makes it shorter, not later.
What if the weather is bad or the lifts stop?
If the lifts run, the lesson runs — flat light and wind are part of the mountain, and learning in them is worth something. If they do not, you choose another date or your money back.
Can I change or cancel?
We move you to another day or time wherever there is room. We do not refund a booking, except when the lifts are not running.
Is the lift pass included?
No. You need your own lift pass, bought before the lesson starts.
How much does a private lesson cost?
90 minutes: ₾320 for one person, ₾460 for two, ₾600 for three, ₾720 for four. 3 hours: ₾560 for one, ₾780 for two, ₾1,000 for three, ₾1,200 for four. The price is for the lesson, not for each person.
Where does a private lesson meet?
Wherever suits you among our meeting points, the Snow Park included. Choose one when you book.
Which days and times can I book?
Any day of the season, at any of the start times shown when you book.
Public Classes
How do I know if I am intermediate?
The intermediate class assumes you already ride. It is for you if all three are true: you can link parallel turns down a blue run without stopping, you can control your speed on a red run even if it is not tidy, and you can ride any lift in Gudauri on your own. If you still use a snowplough to control your speed, or you have not left the beginner slope yet, take the first-timer class instead — you will get further in it.
I skied a few days years ago and remember almost nothing. Which class?
Most likely neither: book a private lesson. A class moves at the level of the group, and half-remembered skiing rarely sits close enough to either level to be comfortable in one. You are welcome to ask for a class anyway — tell us honestly where you think you are and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
What if I book the wrong level?
Tell us and we move you to the class that fits, whenever there is room in it. We do not refund a class booked at the wrong level.
We are at different levels. Can we be in the same class?
No — the two levels are taught separately, which is the point of having two. If you want to ride together whatever your levels, book a private lesson: it takes your party as it is.
Is this skiing or snowboarding?
Both are taught. If you ride a board, message us when you book so we put you with a snowboard instructor.
Is there anything above intermediate?
Yes, but not as a posted class. Message us and we arrange it directly.
What do we actually do in the intermediate class?
Everything past the three checks above. Parallel turns that keep their shape when the pitch steepens, speed you carry and control rather than scrub off, edges instead of a skidded stop, and the longer reds where all of that stops being theory.
There is no class on the date I want. Can I still come?
Message us with the date you want and ask to join. If we can put a class on it, we do.
How soon will you confirm?
Often within minutes. If you write at night, by the morning.
Do I pay now or on the day?
Neither. Once your class is confirmed we send you a payment link.
Can I change or cancel?
We move you to another date or another class wherever there is room. We do not refund a booking — the one exception is the lifts not running, which is answered under On the day.
Can I book for two or three of us together?
Yes. Book the seats in one go and you are in the same class.
How much is a class?
The first-timer class is 90 minutes for ₾150 per person. The intermediate class is 3 hours for ₾250 per person.
How many people will be in my class?
4 at most, often fewer, with one instructor.
What if nobody else books that class?
It runs. A confirmed class is confirmed whether one seat sold or all of them.
Can I take several days in a row?
Yes — pick each day you want when you book. Three days or more of the same class and every day costs less, and the days need not be in a row.
What do I need to bring?
Your full kit, on you, at the meeting point: skis or board, boots, poles if you use them, and a helmet. The class starts at its start time and cannot wait for anyone still collecting gear.
How early should I arrive?
Five to ten minutes early, geared up and ready to ride.
Where do I rent equipment?
Anywhere you like, or from our shop. It makes no difference to the class. We don't take rental bookings: whether gear fits can only be known when you try it on. Come to the shop the afternoon before your lesson. Equipment collected in the afternoon is charged from the next day.
Do I need a lift pass?
Yes, your own. It is not included in the price of the lesson.
What should I wear?
Check the forecast on the morning and judge it for yourself. A bright day at -5 and a windy one at -15 are not the same mountain, and only you know how warm you run.
What language is the lesson taught in?
The one you pick when you book. We confirm a class taught in it.
How fit do I need to be? Is there an age limit?
Message us if you are unsure and we will tell you plainly, before you pay for anything.
How do I find my instructor?
Once your class is confirmed we send you their photo and the exact meeting point.
Three hours is long. Is there a break?
The lift rides are the break. You are not skiing for three hours without stopping, and the instructor sets a pace the group can hold.
Which slopes and lifts will we use?
The instructor decides on the day, by the weather and the conditions. It is the reason to take a lesson from somebody who was on the mountain yesterday.
What if I am faster or slower than the others?
The instructor works with you inside the class, but a group moves as a group and the lesson is the group's. If you would rather set your own pace, take a private lesson.
Can I ask for something specific?
Message us before you book. Some requests fit inside a class and some are a private lesson, and we will say which yours is.
Is it safe?
Not absolutely, and nobody who tells you otherwise is being straight with you. Skiing carries risk and accidents happen. We teach within your level and pick terrain to suit the group, and we still recommend insurance that covers skiing.
What if the weather is bad?
If the lifts are running, the class runs. If they are not, you choose: another date, or your money back.
Women's Lessons
Who teaches the women's lessons?
Always a woman instructor.
Who are they for?
Women who would rather not learn in a mixed group: first-timers, and women coming back after a long break or after a fall that stayed with them.
Skiing or snowboarding?
Both. Say which when you book.
How much does a women's private lesson cost?
90 minutes from ₾380, 3 hours from ₾680 for one person. Up to 4 can share it.
Are there women's public classes?
Yes, at the same two levels as the other public classes: first-timer, 90 minutes for ₾150 per person, and intermediate, 3 hours for ₾250 per person, with 4 women at most. A class runs when we post one, so see what is open or send us your dates.
Can a man join a women's lesson?
No, the women's lessons are for women only. A mixed group of friends or family can book a regular private lesson.
When can I book?
A women's private lesson can be requested for any day of the season. Women's classes run on the dates we post them.
Kids
What ages do you teach?
Children from 3 to 15. From 16, a rider joins the adult lessons.
What is the Kids Club, and how much is it?
A day on the snow in a small group, 4 children at most with one instructor. The full day is 6 hours with a break, for ₾650. The morning only is 3 hours, for ₾350.
How much is a kids private lesson?
90 minutes from ₾340, 3 hours from ₾580 for one child. Brothers and sisters can share it.
Where do we meet?
A Kids Club is posted for the dates you ask for, at The Shop and New Gudauri, so pick the one that suits you when you book. If you pick our shop, you can meet the instructor at Gudauri Lodge instead. Private lessons meet where suits you: pick one of our meeting points when you book.
What level is the Kids Club for?
Mostly first-timers. If your child already skis well, tell us when you book: if other children at the same level are coming on the same dates, we run a club for them too.
Can my child snowboard?
For children under 10 we suggest skiing, or a private snowboard lesson. Tell us your dates anyway: if other children want to snowboard on the same days, they can ride together.
What language is the club taught in?
The language you choose when you book. That is the language of the lesson.
What about equipment?
Please bring your own or rent: skis, boots, and helmet (mandatory)
What about lunch at the Kids Club?
The class stops for 60 minutes between the two halves. Bring cash for lunch — children are supervised throughout
Is a helmet included in children's rental?
Yes. A child who rents equipment at our shop gets a helmet with it at no extra cost.
What should my child wear?
A ski jacket and trousers, gloves, goggles and a warm layer underneath, with a thin hat or buff under the helmet. Anything you don't have can be rented at our shop.
Can I watch my child's lesson?
Yes, from the side of the slope. Most children concentrate better when their parents are not right beside them, so watch from a little way off.
What if my child gets tired?
The instructor stays with them and calls you. We have no rest room for children, so a child who is done for the day is collected by a parent or guardian.
Do you have private lessons?
Yes. A private lesson is an hour and a half or three hours, for up to 4 children with one instructor.
Gudauri Resort
Where is Gudauri?
In the Greater Caucasus in Georgia, about 120 km north of Tbilisi on the Georgian Military Road. The drive takes about 2 to 2.5 hours.
How high is it?
The resort starts at about 2,000 m and the top lift reaches 3,279 m.
Is Gudauri good for beginners?
Yes. The slopes are wide, open and above the tree line, with a gentle beginner area right by our shop. Most runs are blue or red, so after a few lessons there is a lot of mountain to enjoy.
What are the lift hours?
The lifts open at 10:00 and close in the late afternoon, between 16:00 and 17:00 depending on the lift and the month.
Where do I buy a lift pass?
At the resort's ticket offices by the lifts. The resort sets the prices, not us.
When is the best time to come?
January to March has the most reliable snow. December and April depend on the season. New Year and the first half of January are the busiest weeks.
Is Gudauri good for freeride?
Very — it is known for its off-piste terrain. Go off-piste only with a qualified guide and proper avalanche equipment. Our lessons stay on the marked slopes.
Can the road to Gudauri close?
Sometimes, for a few hours after heavy snow. Check the road before you drive and make sure the car has winter tyres. If you travel with our transfer, we watch the road for you.
What is there to do if I don't ski?
Snow games, a day trip to Kazbegi and Gergeti Trinity Church, or the views from the cafés at the top of the lifts.
Rental
Do I need to reserve equipment?
No. We don't reserve gear in advance, because only trying it on tells you it fits. Come to the shop and we fit you in person. Over New Year, or when a big group arrives, some sizes can run out, so come early.
When should I pick it up?
The afternoon before your first day. Equipment collected in the afternoon is charged from the next day, so the fitting costs nothing.
How much does rental cost?
A complete ski or snowboard set is ₾60 for one day, ₾55 a day for 2–3 days and ₾50 a day for 4 days or more. Skis, boards, boots, poles, helmets and clothing can also be rented on their own; every price is in the tables on the rental page.
What is in a complete set?
Skis, boots and poles, or a snowboard and boots. For adults a helmet is extra; for children it is included.
Do you need a deposit?
Yes. While you have the equipment we keep either an original ID document (passport or ID card) or a cash deposit. You get it back when you return the equipment.
What if something breaks or gets lost?
Every item has its own price, written on the rental form you sign when you collect it. Normal wear is fine. A broken or lost item is charged at the price on your form.
What boot sizes do you have?
Up to EU size 49.
Can I swap my equipment during the rental?
Yes. If your boots hurt or you want different skis, bring them back to the shop and we change them.
When do I return it?
On your last day, before the shop closes.
School Trips
What is included in a school trip?
Ski or snowboard lessons, 3 hours a day with 1 instructor to 4 students, equipment, lift pass, Gudauri Hills hotel with full board, and the coach from Tbilisi airport and back with a stop at Ananuri Fortress. Lessons are always included; leave out anything you arrange yourself and the price drops.
How much does a school trip cost?
An example trip of 7 nights and 5 ski days, everything included, costs ₾3,650 per student for 30 students, ₾3,550 for 40 and ₾3,490 for 50. Work out your own group on the For Schools page.
How big can the group be?
From 10 to 200 students.
Do teachers travel free?
One chaperone travels free for every 10 students, with room, meals, transfer and lift pass. Extra chaperones pay for the same.
Can chaperones ski with the students?
Chaperones can join their students' groups free of charge if they ski or ride at a higher level than the students. Chaperones who want lessons of their own pay our usual prices.
How are students grouped?
On the first day our instructors see every student ski and sort them into groups of 4 by level, skiers and snowboarders apart. Each group keeps the same instructor all week wherever possible.
Is it safe?
Instructors and chaperones stay in phone contact all day, and students are never left on the mountain without an adult. The resort has ski patrol and a medical point, and our team is in Gudauri every day.
Do students need insurance?
Every student and chaperone needs travel insurance that covers skiing or snowboarding, emergency medical treatment and evacuation. We don't sell insurance, but we are happy to read your policy before the trip.
What language are the lessons in?
English. Georgian and Russian are possible too, if you ask.
How does payment work?
A 30% deposit holds the trip and the balance is paid before you travel, each against an invoice, by bank transfer. The deposit is not refundable once the hotel is booked. Student numbers are final when the balance is paid.
What if the weather closes the lifts?
Every trip has a reserve day. If weather closes the lifts on an earlier day, that day's lesson moves there.
Can you take students with special needs?
Yes, we have taught groups from special-needs schools. Tell us about your students and we plan the lessons around them.
When can we come?
Dates are flexible between December and April. Choose any number of nights and ski days, and we can change the lesson hours too.
Company Trips & Team Building
What is included in a company trip?
Lessons for whoever wants them (3 hours a day, 1 instructor to 4), equipment, lift pass, Gudauri Hills hotel with full board, the coach from Tbilisi airport and back, and an afternoon of snow games. Leave out anything you don't need.
How big can the group be?
From 10 to 200 people.
Some of our team don't ski. Is that a problem?

What are the snow games?

Can we book just a team-building day?
Yes. A snow team-building day is ₾180 per person, for 10 to 100 people, with a minimum of ₾2,500. Refreshments, photos and a bonfire can be added.
How does invoicing work?
One invoice to your company for each payment, by bank transfer: a 30% deposit holds the dates and the balance is paid before the trip. The deposit is not refundable once the hotel is booked. Numbers are final when the balance is paid.
What if the weather closes the lifts?
The lesson moves to another day, or we refund the lesson part of that day.
Can managers have private lessons, or strong skiers a guide?
Yes. Ask us and we will price it.
When can we come?
Dates are flexible between December and April, weekdays included. Choose any number of nights and ski days and we will plan around them.
How do we get a price?
Use the calculator on the For Companies page, then send us your dates and group size. We reply with a proposal for your team.
